About Tortola

All About Tortola, BVI

The British Virgin Islands is an archipelago of over 60 islands. Tortola being the largest, features white sand beaches, magnificent views, pristine anchorages, casual gourmet restaurants, international shopping, exuberant rum-and-reggae nightlife, and of course the friendliest people in all the Caribbean.

Steele Pointe is a private peninsula at the tip of the BVIs biggest Island. The Steele Point peninsula is one of the many headlands that make up the Sir Francis Drake Channel.

Beyond the channel is picturesque St. John, however the view from Steele Point is of the 7,000+ acres of undeveloped National Park. If the aforementioned views were not enough, from Steele Point you can also see BVI National Parks, Great Thatch Island, Sandy Cay, and Sandy Spit along with eight other islands.

Another unique feature of this property is being situated on the very point of the peninsula where quite literally the Atlantic and Caribbean converge.

Due to the location of Steele Point Estate, the property is directly in the centre of not just the U.S. or BVI, but all the Virgin Islands. Everything wonderful that the Virgin Islands has to offer is equidistant and easily accessible.

Lastly, because the peninsula is a gated estate you have the privacy of a private island, but the convenience of being on BVI’s main island.

Getting to Tortola

There are no direct flighs from the USA, Canada, Europe, or South America to the British Virgin Islands main airport, the Terrence B. Lettsome Airport (EIS).

All flights must connect through another Caribbean airport on islands such as Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, Antigua, St. Kitts, or St. Maarten/St. Martin.

Passports: You will be required to produce proof of citizenship. A passport is required. Be sure to read the BVI entry requirements.

The four most common ways to get to Tortola is through St.Thomas (STT), USVI or San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU). If you are traveling from overseas,  you will likely arrive via St. Maarten/St. Martin or Antigua.

The most convenient way to reach the Steele Point Estate is flying to St. Thomas and taking the Ferry from the Charlotte Amalie port of departure terminal (a five minute taxi from the airport) to the Tortola West End port of arrival.

Also, as a guest of the Steele Point Estate, you will be met and greeted at the airport or ferry dock on Tortola and the transfer to the Estate is a complementary service.
