...the artistry and nostalgia of a rare classic yacht
Planning the day aboard Lelanta in the BVI comes down to 3 basic choices, partly dictated by variations of the daily Trade Winds.
If the winds are south of east, we tend to sail on the north side of Tortola, visiting Jost Van Dyke, Little Jost, and Sandy Cay. Good snorkeling can be found here, along with the famous “Bubbly Pool,” and our favorite beach bar, the B-line.
Winds that are tending towards the north make for a great trip up Drakes Passage to Norman or Peter Island. Located on the south side of Tortola, Norman is home to the Caves, Pirate’s Bight restaurant and of course the infamous Willy T. Bar and Restaurant. Peter Island has some less crowded, tranquil anchorages.
The third option is what we call “we are the destination.” On these trips, the goal is to really enjoy Lelanta, keeping her in the most comfortable sailing breeze while taking in the BVI’s best scenery. Anchoring up for a quiet picnic lunch can be part of the day.
